The week we started off the week investigating advent, what it means and how it is celebrated in different countries. We also had a special visitor arrive ‘Sparkle’ the Christmas elf, all the way from the North Pole.
We walked up to the village Christmas tree with preschool, year 1 & 2 to hang the decorations we had been making. It was a magical experience culminating with a verse of ‘We wish you a merry Christmas’. Thank you to all the parents that braved the cold to share the experience.
The children have learnt about how St Nicholas visits on the night of the 5th December in countries such as Germany and Holland. The children put their boots out on Thursday afternoon and were very excited to find that St Nick had filled their boots with treats when they arrived at school on Friday morning.
In addition to all these festivities the children have been polishing their performances in the Nativity. We were very excited to see our friends from preschool on Friday morning and enjoyed performing our play for them.
We finally spent Friday afternoon enjoying the ‘Elf Factor’ with some fantastic performances being put on by the talented Key Stage 2!
Have a restful weekend and we look forward to another fun week with festivities, performances, Christmas dinner and a Christmas party!
