Reception

In our phonics lessons we have split into three groups. Your child will have any new sounds they have learnt added to their sounds folder.

‘Marvin’ the monkey who is rather magical and lives on the other side of the mountain,  over the rainbow’ has been back this week teaching us how to write new cursive letters - c and a. They’ve all become a lot more confident with their pencil grip using the method - pinch and flip.

The children have worked hard this week in Maths recognising, naming and describing shapes and putting these shapes into repeating patterns on the computer, painting, chalking and play dough.

This week we have celebrated the festival of St Martins our year 5 buddy Jamilu came to tell us the story behind the festival and share his personal experiences from Germany. We learnt a Traditional German lantern song and created our own lanterns.

We’ve started to rehearse ready for our up and coming Christmas play ‘The Nativity’. Reception children have chosen to be either a star or an angel and letters for costumes went home on Friday.
