"Let your light shine." Matthew 5:16
Our vision is to achieve progress for all; to fulfil the potential of every child and adult that are part of our school community. Through providing an active, relevant, broad and stimulating curriculum; nurturing a lifelong love of learning and stimulating their curiosity we intend to instil each child with the skills, knowledge and attitude to confidently tackle the next phase of their education.
We take pride in our achievements and efforts but acknowledge that we learn from our mistakes as well as from success. We welcome children and their families to our school community and endeavour to work in partnership for the benefit of each child in our care and the wider community we serve.
‘You are the light of the world. Let your light shine before others.’ Matthew 5:16
Ethos and Values
Set in beautiful surroundings, we are a co-educational primary school for children from 4 to 11 years old. We have a single intake of up to 30 children each September into our Reception class. The school serves the local parish and each year there are a number of admissions from the surrounding villages and Aylesbury. As a Church of England school our links with the local church and community are of great importance to us. We welcome children and parents of all religious denominations, and those with no religious beliefs. Quainton C of E School provides a well-rounded, nurturing education. Our aim is to prepare children for the challenge of life, adopting positive dispositions towards learning, growing in confidence, growing resilience and accepting responsibility. The values which underpin all that we do are chosen by the children and are explored through our daily collective worship, RE and PSHE.
Our current values are: Thankfulness , Forgiveness, Friendship, Trust, Endurance and Hope.
Our Christian ethos provides the foundation to the schools mission and values. Our Christian values are the mortar that binds our whole school community and worship, whilst also welcoming children from all other faiths. We endeavour to create a compassionate environment that engenders care for each other, just as Jesus taught us. This enables us all to grow through learning, helping each other to be the best that we can be.
Our Breakfast Club is open from 8.00 am each day – a chance for children to have breakfast at school and take part in an early morning activity (booking details are available on request from the school office). The school gates open at 8.45 am. Parents of the Reception children often take them to their classroom, a good opportunity to talk to the teacher and to support children in their organisation. Older children walk straight into class before registration at 8.55 am. Every morning we meet together for Collective Worship at 10:05. Children have a short break at 10.25am and break for lunch at 12.15pm. We offer a range of hot meals throughout the week or children are welcome to bring their own packed lunches (details of contents are given in our Whole School Food Policy).Afternoon school begins with registration at 1.15 pm and is divided into two sessions, ending at 3.15pm (younger children are given a short break between the two afternoon sessions). A range of after school clubs are available until 4.15pm.
